Fox TV’s cop/crime “Ride-Along” series, now shooting here for the next three months, is one of the first network TV shows to utilize Fletcher Camera’s new, hot Arri Alexa, Arriflex’ third generation digital camera.
In addition to “Ride-Along,” Fletcher cameras are being used in Detroit by a big Detroit feature and another cop series, and in Chicago by director Ron Howard’s “What You Don’t Know” comedy.
Of only 20 Alexas currently available, Fletcher took possession of two in early July and is expects delivery of a third shortly, followed by a much larger inventory during the fourth quarter.
Among the Alexa’s features are image quality akin to 35mm film, an 800 EI base sensitivity and ultra fast and immediate access to post and workflows.
“We’ll probably end up with seven to 10 of these cameras in the next couple of months, representing an investment of about $700,000,” Fletcher says.
