Moses The Black set to film in Chicago this spring

The faith-based feature, Moses The Black, is set to film in Chicago with production scheduled to begin this spring.

Chukwudi Iwuji, Omar Epps, Wiz Khalifa, and Quavo are set to star in the film. Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is set as executive producer. Sources tell the Reel that Simeon Faith is financing, along with the Nick Mirkopoulos Cinematic Fund.

Simeon Faith, a recently formed faith-based film fund, has been set up by former IM Global executive Alexandros Potter and filmmaker Yelena Popoviche. The Pissios family of Chicago and the Mirkopoulos family of Toronto, are co-financing Moses the Black through the recently established Nick Mirkopoulos Cinematic Fund, honoring the legacy of “Uncle Nick” the founder of Cinespace Studios in Chicago and Toronto.

Moses the Black is inspired by the fourth-century saint of the same name. Reimaging the story, a gangster in modern day Chicago undergoes a profound transformation, mirroring the journey of the ancient saint who transitioned from a life of crime to one of spiritual devotion. Popovic, who wrote the script and will direct the film, aims to illustrate that “no life is lost or meaningless in the eyes of God,” emphasizing themes of redemption and hope.

Popovic previously wrote, directed and produced, along with Potter, Man of God, the English-language international production starring Mickey Rourke, which broke box office records in Greece in 2021.

Simeon Faith plans to finance one to two films annually over the next four years, focusing on high-quality productions with strong faith elements designed for a global audience.
