The 30th DGA Best Commercial Director Awards for 2009 has named five internationally acclaimed directors — with MJZ’s earning its seventh multiple nominations in eight years.
The nominees are: Craig Gillespie of MJZ; Tom Kuntz, also of MJZ;; Garth Davis of Anonymous Content; and Chris Palmer of Gorgeous Enterprises and Joaquin Baca-Asay of Park Pictures.
This is Gillespie’s fourth career nomination; he won the DGA Best Director award in 2005. The 2009 nomination is the third for Kuntz since 2006.
Gillespie is a popular Chicago agency director. His current nomination is partly based on commercials for Chicago agencies: Cars.com’s “David Abernathy,” DDB Chicago and. Orbit’s “Dusty” for Energy BBDO.
