Camp Kuleshov, the annual trailer competition known affectionately as “Camp K,” has announced its 2025 Lev Award winners—recognizing the year’s top emerging talent in editing, graphics, sound design, and music scoring.
Named after Russian film theorist Lev Kuleshov, the competition challenges up-and-coming creatives in post-production to remix, reimagine, and reinvent film moments across multiple genres and disciplines. This year’s top honors reflect the growing depth of talent in the Midwest, as two of the four grand prize winners came from the region.
Midwest Creators Take the Spotlight
In the Graphics category, Marly Koven of Flavor (Midwest region) took home her second consecutive Lev Award for her moody, ethereal title sequence reinterpretation of Pan’s Labyrinth. Koven, who also won in 2023, continues to demonstrate an eye for visual storytelling that elevates cinematic mood and mystery.
Also from the Midwest, Cliff Fitch of Cutters Studios claimed the Lev in Sound Design for his impressionistic redesign of the iconic silent tennis match in Blow-Up, breathing new sonic life into a famously ambiguous scene.
Coast-to-Coast Creativity
In the Editing category, the win went to Fernando Raigoza of Arcade Edit (West/Southwest), who transformed Streets of Fire and Bye Bye Birdie into a Tarantino-style action thriller with his mashup trailer titled Die Die Birdie.
For Music Score, Zoltan Monori of Heard City (East region) scored an emotional win for his dramatic composition set to the early fire-starting scene in Cast Away, adding tension and depth to a pivotal moment in the film.
More Than a Competition
Camp K is more than a creative challenge—it’s a launchpad for the next generation of post professionals. Entrants gain access to mentorship from industry leaders while pushing the boundaries of storytelling through editing, graphics, sound, and score.
Winners were chosen by a jury of seasoned pros from shops like Cut+Run, Optimus, Big Sky, Sonic Union, Shindig Music, and Yessian—ensuring that the work was evaluated by the industry’s top creative minds.
