Writer/director/producer Don Thacker left behind a career as a marketing executive to found the production company Imagos Films and shoot his debut feature, the macabre creature comedy “Motivational Growth.”
“This year I, with my two partners, tossed away the reins and went ?all-in’ on the film studio,” Thacker says. “We have redirected our lives to pursue our dreams when any normal person might think it insane.
“We are taking the plunge, and intend to document and share the experience with everyone else who needs a push over the edge.”
Thacker self-financed part of the under-$200,000 budget and raised the remainder with his partners from family and private investors.
“I dumped all of my money into the film company and I’m essentially on a timer before it runs out,” he says. “No matter, we are making this film and I feel great about it.”
Thacker and his partners plan to release “Motivational Growth,” which they began shooting Oct. 12, as ten 12-minute episodes online beginning in March, followed by a commercial release of the full feature in April.
