In a statement issued this morning, the Teamsters Local 727 gives their full support to the striking members of SAG-AFTRA. The Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) have joined the Writers Guild of America (WGA) in a historic double labor strike, not seen since 1960.
The Local 727 statement:
On July 14, 2023, the American actors’ union SAG-AFTRA went on strike over an ongoing labor dispute with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. It has coincided with a Writers Guild of America strike as part of broader Hollywood labor disputes.
The striking SAG-AFTRA members have the full support of Teamsters Local 727, who represent the Drivers who work alongside SAG-AFTRA members on the many television and film projects produced in Chicago.
On Thursday, July 20, there will be a SAG-AFTRA Solidarity Walk and Rally from 12 – 3pm. Gather at Wrigley Square at Millennium Park at Randolph and Michigan.
