Leo Burnett wins Jay Chiat Awards’ Grand Prix

The 2024 Jay Chiat Awards, organized by the 4A’s (American Association of Advertising Agencies), celebrated strategic excellence in advertising across 12 categories. Leo Burnett took home the prestigious Grand Prix for its work on the “Visionworks ‘Subtitles'” campaign for Visionworks of America. GSD&M was named Agency of the Year, showcasing outstanding work throughout the year.

Notable Individual Awards

  • Hannah Schweitzer of TBWA\Chiat\Day Los Angeles received the Emerging Strategist award, recognizing up-and-coming talent with 1-5 years of strategic experience.
  • Angela Rodriguez from alma DDB was honored as the Visionary Strategist, a recognition for individuals with 15+ years of industry strategy experience.

These individual awards were new additions to the Jay Chiat lineup, emphasizing the growing importance of strategic innovation in advertising.

This year’s awards also saw the introduction of three new categories to reflect evolving industry trends:

  • Emerging Trends (AI): Highlighting the innovative use of artificial intelligence in campaigns.
  • B2B: Acknowledging the role of strategy in successful business-to-business marketing.
  • Gaming: Recognizing strategic creativity targeting the rapidly growing gaming audience.

4A’s CEO Marla Kaplowitz noted that the inclusion of these categories signifies the dynamic approaches that integrate new technologies and strategies to engage modern audiences effectively.

The awards recognized 79 finalists out of hundreds of global entries. Jurors praised the impact of strategy on successful advertising, emphasizing how the awards elevate the role of strategists from support to key contributors in creative success.

Christopher Owens of TRG, head juror of the Product/Service Creation category, and Rachel Pool, head of strategy at Ogilvy New York and head juror of the Nonprofit category, both commented on how the awards help shape the legacy of individuals, agencies, and the advertising industry as a whole.



Elizabeth Paul, Chief Brand Officer at The Martin Agency, appeared with the Visionary and Emerging Strategist winners, celebrating the achievements of those who set a high standard for creativity and strategic excellence in the field.
