L.A.’s Cinelease to open lighting/grip equipment branch at Chicago Studio City

One of the biggest grip/lighting equipment companies in the film industry has opened its first branch outside of Los Angeles and Las Vegas at Chicago Studio City.

Cinelease has transferred several million dollars worth of equipment from its Burbank facility into 8,000-sq. ft. of space that once housed CSC’s own equipment inventory.

Cinelease sought out Chicago Studio City as the most logical location for its Chicago branch, said owner John Crededio, and “because they’re the number one studio in Chicago,” added Barbara Lee Woolen, partner with her husband, Bruce, in the 28-year old company.

Cinelease sent 10-year company veteran Gary Paz to Chicago to set up and oversee the local operation and David Morataya as rental manager. “David knows our business and how we stress customer service,” Woolen said. A full-time staff of four or five will be hired.
