Kim Kardashian’s shapewear and apparel brand, SKIMS, is set to make a bold entrance into Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood with its first standalone store in the city. The upcoming storefront will be located at 1000 N. Rush St., a prime corner property recently acquired by Chicago-based developer L3 Capital for $21.5 million.

This expansion into Chicago aligns with SKIMS’ broader strategy to establish a physical retail presence across major U.S. cities. The brand opened its first permanent store in the Georgetown section of Washington, D.C., followed by planned locations in Aventura, Florida; Austin; Houston; and Atlanta.

Best known for its nude-colored shapewear for women, SKIMS has since expanded its offerings to include underwear, loungewear, and other clothing. In October, the National Basketball Association (NBA) and SKIMS announced a multiyear partnership, making the brand the official underwear partner of the NBA, the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), and USA Basketball.

“SKIMS has quickly become one of our most culturally influential brands,” said NBA commissioner Adam Silver. “We look forward to bringing NBA fans and SKIMS users unique experiences, new offerings, and premium products through our partnership.”

SKIMS sells directly through its website as well as through select partnerships with retailers including Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Selfridges, SSENSE, Net-a-Porter, Lane Crawford, KaDeWe, Holt Renfrew, and David Jones.

The Gold Coast neighborhood has been attracting several high-profile retailers recently, including the luxury streetwear brand Kith, which is opening its first Chicago store at 50-54 E. Walton Street. SKIMS’ arrival is expected to further elevate the area’s status as a premier shopping destination.

Founded in 2019 by Kim Kardashian and business partner Jens Grede, SKIMS has rapidly grown into a $4 billion brand, renowned for its inclusive sizing and innovative designs. The Chicago store will offer the brand’s signature shapewear, loungewear, and underwear collections, providing customers with an immersive shopping experience that reflects SKIMS’ commitment to comfort and style.

As SKIMS continues to expand its brick-and-mortar footprint, the Chicago Gold Coast store is poised to become a significant landmark for both the brand and the city’s vibrant retail landscape.
