KFC introduces the big a** wet nap for its original Honey BBQ

KFC Honey

KFC is in its comeback bag, and Chicago’s Highdive just dropped the sauciest flex yet: Original Honey BBQ is back starting Oct. 6, and the TV spot literally introduces a giant, big a** wet nap. Not a towelette. A tarp. A picnic blanket for sticky fingers.

The Avengers of absorbency.

First introduced in the late ’90s, the sweet-meets-smoky cult favorite returns on everything, from classic chicken to tenders, and even the KFC Chicken Sandwich, because moderation is for side salads. The campaign also nods to KFC lore: the Colonel introduced the chain to hand out moist towelettes over 60 years ago. Consider this the supersized sequel, perfect for when the sauce hits different and your coffee table suddenly has fingerprints you don’t remember owning. Take a look below:

“KFC’s Original Honey BBQ wasn’t just a menu offering—it became a cultural touchstone that fans have been craving for years,” said Catherine Tan-Gillespie, president, KFC U.S. “What better way to continue our KFC comeback than to bring back this legendary flavor and reintroduce it in a bigger and bolder way—on everything.”

Highdive’s creative leans into that sticky, tangy indulgence and a very KFC bit of history: the Colonel was way ahead of the messy eating trend, making KFC the first chain to hand out moist towelettes more than 60 years ago. For the relaunch, superfans got a goofy-great surprise: an oversized “wet napkin” big enough to clean your hands, your table… maybe your entire family.

The work follows KFC’s recent wins in reintroducing Wedges and Wings, tapping straight into sauce nostalgia that has lived on for years through copycat recipes and all-caps comments begging for a comeback.

There’s a throwback price play, too. KFC’s Chicken Sandwich is $3.99 for a limited time, available in Classic or Spicy flavors, with an Extra Crispy fillet on brioche, pickles, and the Colonel’s real (or spicy) mayo. And yes, KFC can’t resist a little shade: the brand says its sandwich is bigger than Chick-fil-A’s and available on Sundays.

From sauces to sides, KFC is giving loyalists exactly what they’ve asked for – more sauce on top. Highdive Chicago’s Nostalgia Bomb doesn’t just bring back a flavor; it resurrects a feeling.
