Chicago-made “The Promotion” swept the Midwest Independent Film Festival’s “Best of the Midwest” by winning three of the top seven awards Dec. 2 before 300 local film luminaries at Rockit Bar & Grill.
“The Promotion” won Best Feature, Director and Actor. In accepting his Best Director award, Steve Conrad, also the screenwriter, got warm and fuzzy about his home town.
“Chicago is home here, that place you know they’re going to let you in,” he said. “You know who cares and who doesn’t. I want to wake up tomorrow and write more stories.”
