‘I’m Only Blind’ to screen at Pickwick Theatre this week

The award-winning feature documentary I’m Only Blind, directed by Kamelya Alexan, will screen at the Pickwick Theatre in Park Ridge from September 12–18, 2025. There will be a Q&A with various cast and crew members at some showings.

The film follows Chicago’s Tim Paul, a 66-year-old marathon runner who has lived with blindness for more than four decades. Paul lost his sight in his twenties, but has built a life defined by resilience and determination. He has completed more than 22 marathons and nearly a dozen triathlons, and has taken on pursuits ranging from downhill skiing to piloting a plane. In addition, Paul works for The Chicago Lighthouse, a nonprofit supporting people who are blind or visually impaired.

Filmed entirely in the Chicago area, I’m Only Blind offers an unvarnished look at Paul’s daily life, and challenges common assumptions about disability. The film highlights his connection to family, community, and colleagues, while underscoring a broader message about living fully regardless of limitations.

The documentary has already received recognition on the festival circuit, earning the Audience Choice Award for Best Documentary at the 25th Annual Beverly Hills International Film Festival earlier this year.

Alexan’s heartfelt project now arrives in Park Ridge following its Chicago premiere in July at CineCity Studios, where it drew an enthusiastic response from audiences. The Pickwick engagement offers a chance for wider local audiences to see the film on the big screen.

Tickets and showtimes for the September 12–18 screenings are available through the Pickwick Theatre box office and online here.
