Hulu renews Deli Boys – Fred Armisen joins cast

Deli Boys Fred Armisen

Hulu’s critically acclaimed comedy Deli Boys is coming back for seconds. Onyx Collective and 20th Television confirmed today that the half-hour series has been renewed for a sophomore season, with comedy legend Fred Armisen joining as a series regular. He’ll star alongside returning cast members Asif Ali, Saagar Shaikh, and Poorna Jagannathan.

Created by Abdullah Saeed and developed by Jenni Konner and Nora Silver under Jenni Konner Productions, Deli Boys follows two pampered Pakistani American brothers who lose everything when their father dies — only to discover his secret criminal empire. Forced to take up his mantle, the brothers stumble their way through the underworld with hilariously chaotic results.

Armisen, known for Saturday Night Live, Portlandia, and most recently Netflix’s Wednesday, will play a legendary gambling savant with a global casino empire and an unhinged streak that makes him both brilliant and dangerous. His casting adds another layer of unpredictability to a show already praised for its originality.

Since premiering, Deli Boys has earned rave reviews, holding a 96% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and landing on the 2024 Gold House A100 List for cultural impact. Season one’s creative team included showrunner Michelle Nader, with Nisha Ganatra directing the pilot. Executive producers include Saeed, Konner, Silver, and Nader.

With Armisen’s offbeat genius joining the ensemble, Deli Boys looks set to up the ante in season two, blending family dysfunction with sharp cultural commentary and plenty of laugh-out-loud surprises.
