Hollywood pro Leipzig kicks off IFP’s Master Series

Movie guru Adam Leipzig

It’s nice to have prominent Hollywood filmmakers lighting up Chicago’s independent film scene again — and none is brighter than supernova Adam Leipzig, who launches the IFP Master Series Wednesday, Sept. 16 at DePaul’s downtown campus.

Leipzig, an award-winning producer, studio executive, distributor and author will expound on “Seeing Your Destination from the Start: Get Your Movie Made, Get Your Movie Seen.”

He has been the CEO of Entertainment Media Partners, VP at Disney Studios and president of National Geographic Films and has been responsible for more than 35 films, winning dozens of awards along the way.

The IFP Master Series is the first of an ambitious slate of programs being welcomed after a three year dormancy of the city’s oldest organization supporting indie filmmakers.

The Master Class series is IFP’s big push for fall and spring, notes board president and filmmaker Nicole Bernardi-Reis. Topics will include financing models, pitching, film festival strategies and distribution, presented by experts in those areas.

IFP’s renewed mission, she adds, “is to unite and foster a sense of community and provide a voice for the community.”
