Socialize with friends,
hear great music,
eat delicious food, and
enjoy tasty beverages
while helping others
tonight at Daily Planet

Continuing a tradition of generosity and compassion, Daily Planet Ltd. hosts its annual giveshi*t holiday party tonight.

Beer, wine, snacks, music, and a surprise Special Musical Guest will complement the evening’s star attraction: the annual line of designer t-shirts, tote bags, notebooks, coffee mugs, posters and hand towels created by local artists who offered their time and creativity to help others.

The screen-printed items will be available for purchase, and all of the proceeds will be donated to StreetWise, the Chicago publication that empowers people facing homelessness by hiring them to help sell its monthly, four-color newspaper.

Daily Planet President Scott Marvel founded giveshi*t four years ago. Since then, he and a legion of volunteers from Chicago’s advertising, artistic, and film communities, have helped to raise more than $100,000 for the StreetWise organization.

Since 2015, Marvel has also incorporated StreetWise vendors into videos for the GiveaShirt effort.

The one-minute and 45-second Like You is a mini-documentary featuring testimonials from StreetWise vendors who often commute miles to work every day, just like their customers.

Directed by Daily Planet staffer Michael Gabriel and written by multi-talented creative pro David Straus, the film premiered at the annual StreetWise Gala in October.

LIKE YOU BY DAILY PLANET for STREETWISE

Like You is just one of many good things to come out of the giveshi*t effort. Others include helping people during the holidays, socializing with friends, eating delicious food, and drinking beer from sponsors like Marz, Twisted Hippo, and Lo Rez.

To get involved, check out tonight’s celebration from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Daily Planet, 720 N. Franklin, Suite 500.
