At CinemaCon 2025 in Las Vegas, actors Jeremy Allen White and Jeremy Strong unveiled the first trailer for the upcoming biopic Deliver Me from Nowhere, which chronicles the creation of Bruce Springsteen’s 1982 album Nebraska.

White portrays Springsteen during this introspective period, while Strong takes on the role of Jon Landau, Springsteen’s longtime manager and producer.

The preview featured White as Springsteen test-driving a new Chevy, interspersed with black-and-white flashbacks depicting his tumultuous relationship with his father, Douglas “Dutch” Springsteen, played by Stephen Graham.

These scenes highlight Bruce’s struggles during his adolescence, his journey in songwriting, and his quest for self-identity along the Jersey Shore. In a poignant moment, Strong’s Landau leans into the car window, affirming, “I do know who you are,” to which White’s Springsteen responds, “That makes one of us,” before transitioning to a performance of the iconic 1975 anthem, Born to Run.

During a Q&A session, White expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating it was “an incredible challenge and a dream come true,” emphasizing the honor of having Springsteen’s blessing for the film. He added, “It’s the story of a very particular moment in Bruce’s life when he was trying to reconcile the pressure of success and the ghosts of his past.”

Strong reflected on the deep bond between Springsteen and Landau, noting, “Jon was, of course, deeply invested in Bruce as an artist, but he was also deeply invested in his friend’s happiness and well-being and his struggles with mental health. I see Jon as the Lewis to Bruce’s Clark.” Watch the panel below:

Directed and written by Scott Cooper, Deliver Me from Nowhere is based on Warren Zanes’ 2023 book of the same name. Cooper shared his connection to the project, stating, “Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska has profoundly shaped my artistic vision. The album’s raw, unvarnished portrayal of life’s trials and resilience resonates deeply with me. Our film aims to capture that same spirit, bringing Warren Zanes’ compelling narrative of Bruce’s life to the screen with authenticity and hope, honoring Bruce’s legacy in a transformative cinematic experience.”

The supporting cast includes Stephen Graham as Springsteen’s father, Douglas; Odessa Young as Faye; Paul Walter Hauser as guitar technician Mike Batlan; Gaby Hoffmann as Springsteen’s mother, Adele; and David Krumholtz as record executive Al Teller.

The film is scheduled for release later in 2025.
