Filmworkers Club upgrades with new Autodesk systems

Filmworkers Club is the first Chicago facility to acquire four Autodesk systems that enables the post house to keep pace with the growing demand for high resolution services.

The additions are two Autodesk Flame 2007 systems and two Autodesk Smoke 2007 systems that allow artists to work with both standard definition and high resolution media, including HD, 2K and 4K.

All four are also installed on new 64-bit Linux workstations and deliver significantly improved performance over earlier versions of Flame and Smoke.

The new Linux platforms are capable of processing data from five to 20 times faster than earlier SGI workstations. Data files can be moved between systems at speeds up to eight times faster, making it easier for artists to generate multiple version of a cut or effect, and offer clients more options.

Other improved features of Flame 2007 and Smoke 2007 include enhanced creative tools for rotoscoping, paint, animation, expanded support for Avid and FinalCut Pro; and more efficient project management.

The products were introduced last September at the International Broadcasters Convention in Amsterdam.
