Filmscape Chicago has announced the appointment of three influential voices in Chicago’s creative industry—Erica Duffy, Ellen Kaulig, and Nancy Murray—to its Board of Directors. The addition of these dynamic leaders strengthens the organization’s dedication to empowering, educating, and uniting the region’s film and media production community.
Erica Duffy, founder and CEO of Chicago-based Camera Ambassador, is a production powerhouse known for creating one of the nation’s most artist-friendly camera, grip, and electric rental houses. Passionate about bridging the gap between filmmakers and gear, she founded Camera Ambassador in 2014 to foster community along with equipment access. “I’m thrilled to join the board of directors at Filmscape Chicago, an organization that shares my passion for empowering and educating our film community. I look forward to collaborating with this incredible team to create even more opportunities for filmmakers to learn, connect, and grow.”
Ellen Kaulig brings strong programming and community-building skills to the board. As Chief of Staff at the Chicago Reader, she’s known for fostering engaging teams and culturally rich events in the city. Reflecting on her appointment, Kaulig said, “The opportunity to join this team and support Chicago’s film community is a privilege. Everyone being a truly wonderful person who I already like hanging out with is one heck of a perk. Here’s to many more years of programming, storytelling and camaraderie.”
Nancy Murray, a Columbia College Chicago alumna, brings decades of experience in lighting—having worked as an electrician, best boy, and later at Mole-Richardson and Birns & Sawyer. An Associate member of the ASC and active mentor through CCC’s Semester in LA, Murray shared, “I’m honored to join the Filmscape Chicago Board and contribute to its mission of education and innovation in our industry. Giving back to the film community that shaped my career is deeply meaningful, and I’m excited to bring a lifetime in lighting to help spark emerging talent and light the way for the next generation.”
They join a growing roster of advocates committed to guiding and uplifting the next generation of Midwestern production talent, as Filmscape Chicago fortifies its mission of education, innovation, and community support.
