THE 75 MEDIA SAVVY FOLKS who attended the HP Envy-sponsored music video edit challenge last Thursday had a great time, despite the fact the challenge they came to cheer turned out to be a bust.
Three experienced editors — Corinne Gilliar and Paul Miglio from Harpo, and Ishmael Rufus — were ready and able to create a three-minute music video from footage provided, in front of a live audience at the new Office Port CHI in the Loop.
What stumped these Avid experts was being given an unfamiliar Pinnacle system for the challenge. Unable to work with Pinnacle, they shrugged and admitted defeat.
While the $2,000, top-of-the-line HP Envy notebook went unclaimed, the door prize two tickets worth $600 for the Jan. 30 NAPTE expo in Las Vegas went to director/DP Kimberly Nicole. The tickets were a bonus, as she said she had planned to attend anyway.
