Road Pictures has announced it has signed director Mark Schimmel for national representation.
The union between Greg Malone, Executive Producer and owner of Road Pictures, and Schimmel is a long-standing one. Their work relationship has included sharing second unit producing responsibilities for the Farrelly brother’s mini-series The Now, as well as other commercial projects.
An award winning director of content, commercials, television, short and feature films, Mark Schimmel has been directing conceptually driven and emotionally-evoking work for the past 18 years.
Malone is elated over Schimmel’s decision to join the Featured Directors roster of Road Pictures. “Mark brings something new to Road Pictures — animals — as well as additional expertise to our traditionally strong medical and pharma business sectors,” says founder and EP Malone. ” I look forward to many new opportunities with Mark. He’s a wonderful, caring human being who happens to be a tremendously talented director.”
The two have also recently collaborated on Road Pictures-produced branded content project with Schimmel at the helm. The extensive content project was for the Fishawack Health, a global agency for the pharmaceutical manufacturer, Aurinia and their cornerstone brand, Lupkynis. A prescription medicine used with other medicines to treat adults with active lupus nephritis, the project featured three leading doctors in a round table discussion concerning the disease and treatment plans that include the drug. Road Pictures and Schimmel completed seven individual short videos along with a 30-minute compilation video.
It was the over success of this campaign that forwarded the new relationship. “After directing and producing everything from commercials to episodic, the support offered by Road Pictures is unparalleled,” shares Mark Schimmel. “Greg and his team bring a level of trust to the clients which builds confidence and sets the stage for the director to perform at their very best.”
Mark Schimmel has been directing health care and doctors for over a decade, working with global pharmaceutical companies such as Astellas, Pfizer and Meridian, along with leading health care networks. He began his career in New York City as an Art Director with Lintas Worldwide. He successfully transitioned into commercials and branded content, eventually helming a New York Newsday commercial featuring a dozen dogs which established Schimmel as an animal director. This allowed Schimmel to build a career which led to a nine-part campaign for Wrangler Blue Jeans featuring George Strait, Banfield with Russell Wilson and his dog Naomi, and other pet related products. On the opposite side of the spectrum, he built a secondary specialty working with healthcare and pharmaceutical companies. Over time, Schimmel began producing commercials, branded and eventually episodic.
A veteran commercial and branded content producer, Malone’s Road Pictures is among the rare group of production companies that has celebrated more than a quarter century in business. Malone’s work also includes features and television projects, including The Now, the Sundance premiere Madison and the currently streaming No Place.
