Chicago-made, heartwarming holiday romance Christmas on the Ranch is set to premiere exclusively on Hulu on November 1.
Directed by Danny Buday, known for Second Chance Christmas (2017) for UPtv, Country Christmas Album (2018) for ION Television. The film stars Daytime Emmy Award-winning actress Jade Harlow (Amazon’s The Bay) and Houston Rhines (A Christmas Switch). Joining them are several Chicago-based actors, including Saige Chaseley (Christmas with Felicity), Malkia Stampley (AMC’s 61st Street), and Amy Sloan (Apple TV’s Truth Be Told).
The heartwarming story follows a talk show relationship expert with romantic hang-ups who gets stranded at a ranch just before Christmas, where a charming rancher reminds her that love is always worth the risk.
Filming took place in Chicago and the northwest suburbs, with most of the principal photography at Country Ridge Stables in Mundelein, Zia West in Hawthorn Woods, and WGN Radio in downtown Chicago. Additional photography occurred at Chatterbox of Long Grove, the Sock Monkey Museum, Robert Parker Coffin Bridge in Historic Downtown Long Grove, Dakota K Auto Repair & Tire Center in Arlington Heights, Bende in Vernon Hills, and a private residence in Oak Park.
This marks the third collaboration between Chicago-based Very Merry Entertainment and Nicely Entertainment, and it’s their second exclusive premiere with Hulu after Reporting for Christmas, which premiered as a Top 10 new release last year. With over 50 million subscribers, Hulu is now part of the Disney Bundle subscriptions.
Producers John W. Bosher and Chris Charles of Very Merry Entertainment were joined by executive producer Jonathan Bross, with additional executive producers Vanessa Shapiro and Scott Kirkpatrick of Nicely Entertainment, Suzanne C. Johnson, Michael Okun, Arlene Okun, and Jeremy Warner. Post-production was handled in Chicago at Journeywork Entertainment, Noisefloor, and Periscope Post & Audio. Nicely Entertainment is overseeing worldwide distribution and facilitated the Hulu premiere.
“We think viewers will especially enjoy all the amazing horses featured in the movie,” said Bosher, highlighting that the production worked with American Humane and received the No Animals Were Harmed certification. “We’re thrilled to be working with Hulu again and look forward to sharing the film with audiences this holiday season,” Charles added.
Nicely Entertainment’s CEO, Vanessa Shapiro, expressed her excitement: “We’re excited to once again be collaborating with the amazing team at Very Merry Entertainment on Christmas on the Ranch and are thrilled that Hulu will be premiering this gem of a Christmas film exclusively!”
Christmas on the Ranch will be available for streaming on Hulu starting November 1, 2024, and will reach additional platforms in 2025.
