Chicago P.D.’s Tracy Spiridakos leads new ‘Anna Pigeon’ crime drama

After seven seasons patrolling the streets of Chicago as Detective Hailey Upton on NBC’s Chicago P.D., Tracy Spiridakos is stepping into a new kind of law enforcement, trading urban grit for wilderness survival in new Anna Pigeon crime drama.

The Winnipeg-born actress, who has often called Chicago one of her favorite cities to live and work, will headline Anna Pigeon, a forthcoming USA Network crime drama series based on Nevada Barr’s bestselling mystery novels.

In the series, Spiridakos plays Anna Pigeon, a former city-dweller who leaves behind a traumatic past to become a U.S. national park ranger. Hoping for peace, she instead finds herself confronting danger in some of America’s most remote and breathtaking locations — unraveling murders, disappearances, and other crimes hidden in the wild.

Her new role as Anna Pigeon feels like a natural transition from her role as Hailey Upton: both women are sharp, resourceful investigators, transitioning from a troubled past, though Pigeon trades urban grit for wilderness survival in breathtaking national parks.

The series is helmed by showrunner Morwyn Brebner (Rookie BlueSaving Hope), with Lea Thompson directing and executive producing. Production began this month in Alberta, Canada, and is set to continue through mid-November. Cineflix Studios and December Films are producing the drama, which is expected to premiere in 2026 as part of USA Network’s return to scripted originals.

Spiridakos’s deep ties to Chicago, built over her long tenure on Chicago P.D. and her offscreen affection for the city, make this casting a homegrown point of pride for local fans. While Anna Pigeon will take her far from Michigan Avenue, Chicago audiences will no doubt recognize the same grit and determination she brought to her role as Detective Upton.

We look forward to the premiere of Anna Pigeon on the USA Network and hope the Chicago winters have prepared Tracy for filming in Canada!
