The cast and crews of One Chicago are back to work to begin filming the new season. Chicago P.D. began filming Season 12 on July 17, and Chicago Fire will begin Season 13 today, July 19. Chicago Med is scheduled to begin filming on July 31.
In case you are wondering why Chicago Med isn’t up and running yet, Med takes less time to film their season so they’re starting a little later. This is mainly because they have fewer exterior locations. Most of their filming is done in a controlled environment on the stages at Cinespace Studios in Chicago. Even the exterior scenes of Gaffney Chicago Medical Center that were onfilmed on location at Chicago’s Rush Medical Center, are now filmed on stage. In fact, it is so streamlined that this season, Med has switched to filming seven days per episode from the normal eight day per episode.

There are lots of changes on all three shows this season. The premiere date for the new season is Wednesday, September 25 on NBC.
