Marvel Studios has officially released the first teaser trailer and poster for the long-awaited Ironheart, the highly anticipated Disney+ series spotlighting tech genius Riri Williams—and yes, Chicago is front and center.
Set to premiere June 24, 2025, with the first three episodes, Ironheart follows Riri (Dominique Thorne), a brilliant young inventor who returns to her hometown of Chicago after the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Her unique spin on building iron suits—some say they rival Tony Stark’s best—puts her squarely at the center of a battle where technology meets the supernatural.
The teaser hints at gritty street-level action, high-flying tech, and grounded storytelling anchored in the Windy City. With a cast this stacked and Chicago as the beating heart of the series, Ironheart is shaping up to be Marvel’s most grounded—and possibly most relatable—series yet. Watch below:
In a new behind-the-scenes featurette released by Marvel, Black Panther and Sinners director and Chicago native Ryan Coogler reflected on the character’s roots. “Riri Williams is such a great character in publishing,” Coogler said. “In the comic book, she and Tony Stark came together in their passion to better society… and eventually, she becomes her own hero in Chicago as Ironheart.”

“Riri is definitely in conversation with a street-level show like Daredevil. You’ve got characters trying — both heroes and villains — to make do with what they have."https://t.co/i6ld9t3ir8
The new series is directed by Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes, with Chinaka Hodge as head writer. Executive producers include heavy hitters like Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Zoie Nagelhout, and Coogler himself, alongside Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian via Proximity Media.
Joining Thorne are Anthony Ramos as the enigmatic Parker Robbins aka “The Hood,” along with Lyric Ross, Alden Ehrenreich, Regan Aliyah, Manny Montana, Matthew Elam, and Anji White. Dara Taylor is on board as composer, promising a score that blends tech and tension.
And the Iron Man-sized shoes? They’ve been blessed. Thorne shared in an interview that she received two literal thumbs up from Robert Downey Jr. himself after filming wrapped. “He told me how excited he was and that he’s rooting for it too,” she said. “It’s really reassuring to know you’re not embarrassing Iron Man.”
The series is exclusively on Disney+ starting June 24.
