Chicago filmmaker Duane Edwards (Wrong Numbers) has locked in the cast for his upcoming thriller Laura Louise, which begins production near Dixon, Illinois later this month. The project brings together a mix of established and rising talent for a tightly focused thriller set almost entirely in one location.

Laura Louise Cast

Leading the ensemble is Corbin Bernsen (Apple TV’s Your Friends and Neighbors) in the role of Edward Brannock, a retired postal worker drawn into the reopening of a decades-old missing person’s case. Joining him are Denise G. Sanchez (Bosch: Legacy), Gilbert Owuor (Emancipation), Patrick Mulvey (The Girlfriend Experience), Kristen Bush (HBO’s Paterno), and Campbell Krausen (Ghostlight).

“Having the opportunity to work with Corbin as our lead in Laura Louise is truly outstanding,” Edwards said. “His presence anchors the film with depth and authenticity, and an incredibly talented supporting cast surrounds him.”

The Story

As new evidence emerges decades after a teenage girl’s disappearance, a retired postal worker, Edward Brannock (Bernsen), finds himself at the center of an investigation that forces him to confront long-buried family secrets.

The film’s intimate scope and single-location setting heighten the tension as the past collides with the present.

Rock River Studios

The production will be based at Rock River Studios, a 220-acre property outside Dixon, Illinois. The complex offers extensive housing and facilities: a 3,500-square-foot main lodge with five bedrooms for talent, the additional 10-room Storyteller Inn in downtown Oregon (each suite with private bath), and two additional houses for crew. Filming will take place in a three-bedroom house within the complex, providing both the story’s central setting and a cohesive home base for cast and crew.

Laura Louise is directed and produced by Edwards under his banner The King Productions, with a screenplay by Frederick Mensch, who previously teamed up with Edwards on the critically acclaimed drama Wrong Numbers. That project filmed in Chicago over six days with just two actors across four locations, earning a 93% Rotten Tomatoes rating. You’ll find it streaming on Amazon Prime Video, Tubi, and YouTube Movies, and featured internationally through in-flight entertainment on American Airlines and Emirates Airlines.

The production team also includes co-producers Phil Lee and Darryl Manuel, with casting by Aaron Schoonover. Julie Edwards heads up set design and wardrobe for the production. “Her work is essential to the visual and emotional tone of the film,” added Edwards.
