WENDY JO CARLTON, director of the Sharon Gless drama “Hannah Free,” which won acclaim on the LGBT festival circuit last year, is shooting her follow-up feature, the lesbian romantic comedy “Jamie and Jessie are not Together” in September.
“I’m making the kind of film I want to see more of?a cross between a lesbian buddy movie and a romantic comedy,” writer-director-producer Carlton says.
“Think ?Show Me Love’ meets ?My Best Friend’s Wedding,’ add two cute queer college girls and stir.”
Jacqui Jackson of “Hannah Free” returns as Jamie, a young actor who’s moving to New York (as Jackson is doing in real life) and leaving behind her roommate and fellow actor Jessie (Jessica London-Shields), who’s “not-so-secretly in love with her.”
“?Jamie and Jessie Are Not Together’ is about two women whose codependent, loyal friendship is fraught with erotic tension,” Carlton continues. “It’s not about ?coming out,’ but about two people on the cusp of adulthood, figuring out how to grow together or how to grow apart.”
Co-producers include Etta Worthington and Rebecca Sekulich. I’m line producer. Junko Kajino is production manager. Cast and crew positions are still available. Cast email jnjmovie@gmail.com. Crew email jjntcrew@gmail.com.
