Brian Jun’s “Steel City” wins 2007 Best Film at MWFF; Malik Bader wins for best director

BRIAN JUN’S dramatic feature “Steel City” was named Best of the Midwest at the Midwest Independent Film Festival last week at Century Centre Cinema before an SRO house.

Other Bests of the year were director Malik Bader for “Street Thief;” Jeff Garlin’s comedy “I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With;” Ben Beyer’s documentary, “Indestrucible;” Casey Suchan and Dennis Henry Hennelly’s editing of “Rock the Bells.”

Pete Biagi for cinematography of “The 5:22;” actor Christian Stolte, “Crime Fiction,” actress JoNell Kennedy, “Kubuku Rides: This is It” and director Talon Nightshade’s music video, “Get Steady.”

The 2007 Best awards were cosponsored by Resolution Digital Studios.

MWFF screenings are held the first Tuesday of the month at the theatre, 2828 N. Broadway; doors open at 6 p.m.

JUAN FRAUSTO of Vendetta Pictures is shooting the serial killer thriller “Roadkill,” with Nicholas Guzman, Siboney Lo, Rosa Isela Frausto and Noel Guliemi, from a script by David Zagorski.
