Following a successful series of sold-out events in October 2024, legendary Academy Award-winning cinematographer Roger Deakins and his longtime collaborator and wife, James Deakins, return to Chicago for three special engagements at the Athenaeum Center for Thought and Culture.
From February 25-28, 2025, Team Deakins will participate in an intimate dinner, a film screening, and a live podcast recording—all in support of the ongoing Roger Deakins Photography Exhibition at the Athenaeum Center’s Paradiso Gallery.
Running through April 30, 2025, the Roger Deakins Photography Exhibition offers a rare glimpse into the renowned cinematographer’s personal collection of still images, spanning five decades from 1971 to the present. Featuring 43 carefully curated portraits and landscapes, the exhibition explores Deakins’ signature use of light and shadow, a defining element in his visual storytelling. Two never-before-seen photographs taken in Chicago last fall add a unique local perspective to the show.
The exhibition is open to the public on Tuesdays and Fridays from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM or by appointment.
