Strong cast in new film by “God’s not Dead” director

Director Harold Cronk

Cybill Shepherd and Mira Sorvino have been cast in “Believe,” a low-budget faith-based film currently shooting in Ludington.  Also joining the cast are Lee Majors (“The Six Million Dollar Man”), Delroy Lindo (“Get Shorty”) and rapper Shwayze, according to “Believe” producer, Harold Cronk.

The film is a production of Manistee-based 10 West Studios, co-founded by Cronk.  He directed 2013’s “God’s Not Dead,” the word-of-mouth hit produced on a $2 million budget that grossed $60.7 million during its theatrical run.

“Believe” will film through October mostly in the Manistee and Muskegon areas, Cronk said. The film was approved for a $657,142 incentive from the Michicago Film Office, based on a budget of $2,292,028, MLive reported.

Some scenes may be shot in Grand Rapids as well.

“Believe” is an ensemble film that Cronk compared to “Crash,” in that it features multiple, intertwined storylines. “It’s a faith-based film, all about the power and the meaning of the cross, and what that can do for you,” he said.

The production will employ 82 Michigan-based workers, the equivalent of 10 full-time jobs.

“There’s a lot of friends in our crew,” Cronk  said. “They’ve treated us really well, and are supportive of what we’re doing. We have a little bit bigger budget to play with this time, and have a lot of the same team members on board. So far, it’s going great.”

“We’re growing, making these little movies, and ‘God’s Not Dead’ has helped a little bit,” he said.
