MashburnSackett, an independent agency formed by retired NBA All-Star/successful entrepreneur Jamal Mashburn and Chicago digital marketing expert Jonathan Sackett, is making itself known after almost a year a year in business. (It’ll celebrate one year in May.)
The agency’s focus is to serve the growing interest in smaller agencies that respond with greater agility to internet changes. It specializes in interactive, experiential, and viral marketing, social media, integrated film and 3D production, among other related digital services.
Miami-based Mashburn, the former Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Heat star, is chairman, who describes his role as overseeing agency administration and building relationships.
After retiring from basketball in 2004, Mashburn worked for ESPN as an analyst. He formed his own investment company and currently owns several car dealerships and 38 Outback Steakhouses and 40 Papa John pizza restaurants.
President/CEO Sackett previously held top positions with O&M, as manager of content, North America and as EVP/chief digital officer at DDB Chicago, The Martin Agency and Draftfcb.
Partner/SVP creative strategy is digital pioneer and marketing leader Brian O’Shea, with heavy credits as cofounder of Safehouse Labs and SVP titles at Iventus Digital, DDB and Domini Studios.
Located at 401 W. Ontario, the agency’s full-time staff of 10 – a team that Mashburn declares is “second to none” – includes designers, writers and programmers.
“They understand how modern business is being fundamentally transformed and have a wealth of collective experience and knowledge on how to create value and drive real results,” Mashburn said.
“By combining our talents, we’re not jacks-of-all-trades — we’re masters. That’s not boasting, that’s our promise to clients.”
