“Influence” drama is third ABC TV pilot to shoot here

THE THIRD TV PILOT filming here, and the third for ABC, is the drama “Influence,” centering on two brothers who own a unique agency designed to attack their clients’ problems using the real science of human motivation and manipulation.

Steve Zahn (“Treme”) is the only star announced for “Influence” so far.

 

The other two pilots, “Doubt,” a legal drama and “Betrayal,” a drama about murder and revenge, are currently in preproduction.  “Influence” is headquartering at Cinespace along with “Doubt” and NBC’s “Chicago Fire” series.

 Each of the three pilots start shooting in March for three weeks: March: “Betrayal,” March 7; “Doubt,” March 18 and “Influence,” March 19.

 

On the feature side: Kate Winslet has been signed to star in “Catbird,” the teen sci-film film that starts filming here in April.  It co-stars Shailene Woodley (“The Descendants”), directed by Neal Burger (“The Illusionist”).

The Wachowskis’ big budget sci-fi “Jupiter Ascending” will start filming here in June.  

 

OPTIMUS’ NEWEST EDITOR is Lucy Best Radtke, who was promoted from assistant editor.  Radtke, a 2006 film studies  graduate from Wesleyan University, completed a summer internship at Optimus  in 2004 and eventually made her way back to Optimus in 2008 as an assistant. 

She has worked on for Aveeno, Huggies, Disney, Sprint, Kraft, Crystal Light, SCJ, KitchenAid, Coca-Cola and more.

THE ADDY AWARDS on March 14 will be held at the new Museum of Broadcast Communications for the first time, after several years at Resolution Digital Studios.  Some 250 guests are expected for the awards ceremony that will be hosted by co-Addy chairs board member Kevin Drew Davis, Digitas ECD, and Kathleen O’Hara VP/marketing, Direct Energy.

Submissions were up this year to 360 and were judged online by  national industry professionals from 18 top agencies.  Winners of the Chicago ADDYS move into district and then national tiers, where they compete with America’s best of the best.

ENTRY DEADLINE THE HUGO AWARDS – now formally known for the 49th Chicago International Film Festival Television Awards — is the fast-approaching date of March 8. The 2013 winners will be honored at the Awards Gala on Tuesday, April 23 at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel Chicago.

Submission categories are: individual television productions, TV series, TV commercials, commercial campaigns, special achievement, online/viral commercials and online-based TV programming.

VINCE VAUGHN has taken his fabled three-story Palmolive Building penthouse off the market.  Originally he had asked $18 million for the 12,000-sq. ft., five-bedroom condo, then cut the price to $16.6 million before withdrawing it from sale.  For the time being.
