Los Angeles-based Native Pictures has set up shop here in the person of executive producer Amy Jarvis Turner, a former Leo Burnett veteran of 15 years. She settled into a shared office at 320 W. Ohio in mid-November and has already wrapped a multiplatform job.
“We think Chicago is an amazing market and we’re looking to be a successful production presence here,” says Turner, a Grand Rapids native who went to work at Leo Burnett right out of Michigan State.
She ascended from broadcast business coordinator, to broadcast business manager, art production manager, associate producer and producer.
Four-year old Native Pictures, founded by executive producer Tomer DeVito, produces multiplatform visual media content, broadcast, web and print campaigns through collaboration with clients and production affiliates in all areas of content creation.
Turner says their production is highly personalized, designating a director not from a traditional roster, but from a collective group of talented directors, who is best suited for the client and project at hand. Postproduction will tend to be handled in Chicago.
Turner had worked with Native on numerous projects at Burnett and became good friends with DeVito. “We shared the same thoughts about production and business,” she says. “After I made the decision to leave the agency, we started to talk about their opening an office here, something they had wanted to do for a long time.”
Says DeVito, who previously had produced for RSA, “Having a local presence in one of the world’s most influential cities helps our clients navigate the ever-changing media landscape.
“With access to our creative partners in LA and New York, we want to offer up our pool of talent to not only support these clients, but also collaborate with them, realize their ideas, and help tell their stories in the best way.”
