Flossmoor Art Council to host ‘Hidden Treasures’ appraisal day

The Flossmoor Art Council is giving residents and collectors a chance to uncover the stories and possible value behind their heirlooms and long-forgotten attic pieces. On Saturday, October 4, the art council hosts Hidden Treasures, a community appraisal day at the Flossmoor Community House, 847 Hutchison Rd., Flossmoor, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The appraisals will be handled by MIR Appraisal Services, a Chicago-based firm specializing in fine art, antiques, and personal property. Director and Senior Appraiser Farhad Radfar, an Accredited Member of the International Society of Appraisers, will lead the evaluations. MIR is fully accredited with ISA and holds an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau.

“We’re thrilled to be able to hold this fundraising event for the art council by giving the community something they have been asking for,” said Troy Holmes, Executive Director, Flossmoor Art Council. “We are very fortunate to be working with MIR Appraisal Services. They are a highly reputable, world renown appraisal company right here in the Chicago area. Everyone is really excited about this.”

Hidden Treasures participants can choose from four one-hour time slots: 11 a.m.–12 p.m., 12–1 p.m., 1–2 p.m., or 2–3 p.m. Each session is priced at $30, and attendees are asked to check in 15 minutes before their reserved time. Evaluations are verbal, giving attendees professional insight into the value, history, and provenance of their objects.
