COMIC SARAH SILVERMAN appears in a new Wrigley Orbit gum commercial from Energy BBDO that launches a new campaign that highlight’s Wrigley’s strategy to restore and grow the gum category by investing in its top brands. In the new US spot, the gum is positioned as a way to “break up with lingering food” and get that “just brushed feeling.” 

The new spot also ties in with Orbit’s global campaign that used Antonio Banderas.  In the spot, Silverman is pitching a TV show, when an animated talking cup of coffee appears on the table, with lipstick on its lid, and tries to get back into her life.  See the spot here.

TODAY IS THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF HAPPINESS, created by the United Nations Foundation to further the idea that happiness is a fundamental human right and that everyone deserves a chance at a happy, healthy life.

To celebrate, Coca-Cola worked with pop music super producer Rock Mafia and Eric Sheinkop’s Chicago-based Music Dealers to release a new track “Happiness Remix.” The mash-up of happy songs was created by 17 of Music Dealers’ independent artists throughout the world, inspired by their favorite places.

CUTTERS’ DESIGN FLAVOR DIVISION promoted designer/animator Brian McCauley to creative director from senior designer at Flavor. McCauley had been director and creative lead for Bridges Media for seven years.  He had freelanced as a CD and 2D/3D specialist for a year, including Flavor, joining the company fulltime in 2013.

AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSICIANS! – this casting call’s for you.  Rich Daniels, music director of City Lights Orchestra, is handling auditions for 22-32-year old black male and female piano players to double for the actors. While Daniels can’t reveal the name of the TV show this is for, Reel readers can figure it out pretty fast.

Daniels has been casting musicians for three years, since he  provides musicians for “The Playboy Club,” via 20th Century Fox and Imagine films.  His most recent assignment was three episodes of “Betrayal.” Daniels says he works with main artists, for corporations, associations, nonprofits and TV show clients.

MIGHTY ADDYS WINNER LEO BURNETT recently trimmed US staff by “less than 2%,” which still adds up to “less than 40 people.” No reason was given for the staff reduction.

“AN EVENING WITH ALEX BUONO,” the DP on “Saturday Night Live” for the past decade, will be sharing tips and tricks of the trade Tuesday, March 25 hosted by Full Compass of Milwaukee. He will part of an expo of Canon camera products and compatible new products from leading manufacturers like Yamaha, AJA, Sachtler, Sound Products and others.
