IN TUESDAY’S COLUMN I cheerfully wrote that it was good news for local production companies that Kraft Heinz’ forthcoming new agency would not be handling production, which will be outsourced to production houses.
NEWS AT THE TOP. Creative veteran Nancy Hannon has returned to Leo Burnett as EVP/ECD to oversee creative for Kraft and Kellogg’s brands, making it a full circle back to the first agency where she worked for a decade.
Kraft Foods Group on Friday announced that it had slashed seven of its 11 agencies in a move to more efficiently consolidate its work, with Chicago-based Leo Burnett and McGarry Bowen among the four survivors.
The other two agencies sticking to the roster are MDC Partners’ Crispin Porter + Bogusky and Toronto-headquartered WPP’s Taxi.
JWT’S CHICAGO OFFICE is on the brink of extinction after the loss of $180 million worth of Kraft business, an account this office has held for 70 years.
Not so, insists New York-based president Bob Jeffrey. The agency that was once Chicago’s biggest and brightest will remain open.
“We are committed to Chicago,” Jeffrey reassured the troops right before he relieved the two top executives of their duties.
President Ros King, the expert who managed the Kraft business for JWT, will leave within a month and return to the London office.
