Laughlin Constable names Naidl to Managing Director of Public Relations

The Milwaukee office of Laughlin Constable has appointed Kristine Naidl to Managing Director of Public Relations. Besides leading internal PR strategy for the agency and its clients, she will oversee Laughlin Constable’s exceptional and expanding public relations team.

Naidl is an Accredited Public Relations professional who joined Laughlin Constable in 2012. LC, Fram scold consumers in new “Frampa” campaign

Laughlin Constable helped oil filter giant Fram connect with young adults by hiring a 70-year-old pitchman to call them “numnuts.”

“We wanted to channel that sort of sage old advisor we all kind of grew up with,” explains creative director Jon Laughlin.

Breaking Bad actor Jonathan Banks stars as the title character in Frampa, an online campaign LC created for Fram’s Extra Guard oil filters. In each of the series’ four spots, he shows tough but tender disapproval for anyone who cannot competently change the oil in their cars.

LC names ad veteran Dan Fietsam as chief creative

Advertising veteran Dan Fietsam, formerly executive creative director with FCB Chicago and Energy BBDO, has joined Laughlin Constable as its chief creative officer, effective June 1.

Fietsam will lead creative across LC offices in Chicago, Milwaukee, New York and New Jersey, with the goal of “becoming one of the most successful ndependent agencies in the country,” says LC’s CEO Mat Lignel.

Father (Adam Vernier) takes his son (Evan Nave) to a Friendly’s after they were in a department store where Dad has been shopping.

There, while they watch images on a big screen TV, a voiceover reminds Dad that “what we really need, we already have.” The spot ends with the tag, “You and Me and Friendly’s.”

Abasolo wins top raffle prizes at ChicPUG Wrap Party

THE 70-PLUS GUESTS at ChicPUG’s (Chicago Creative Pro Users Group) Wrap Party last week at the Metropolitan Club cheered lucky member Tony Abasolo when he won the two top raffle prizes valued at $3,100 and two additional prizes.

Three “Chicago” series kick off fall season filming

STARTING JULY 20, Chicago’s film industry will take off like a rocket as NBC/Dick Wolf’s three primetime series — “Chicago Fire,” “PD” and “Med” — all begin shooting their new fall seasons on Cinespace stages.

By mid-September, eight TV series will be filming here. Cameras will roll for Fox TV’s hit “Empire” and new Fox entries, “The Exorcist” Aug. 3 and “ABP” Aug. 22. NBC’s “Chicago Justice” is scheduled to start for mid-September airing.

Burnett and divisions win a colossal 74 ADDY Awards

The Chicago Ad Federation boasted it had 350 submissions for the recent ADDY Awards from local agencies and those entries were carefully considered by 25 top creatives from national pedigreed agencies. 

As a result of all this vetting, and no doubt based on the sheer volume of entries from Leo Burnett, it should have been no surprise that the Publicis giant had a colossal haul of 62 awards, including six out of the seven ADDY Bests.

Yvonne Furth to retire as Rivet’s top exec, Lor Gold steps up as COO and global director

RIVET PRESIDENT YVONNE FURTH announced she will retire from the agency Aug. 31 after 26 years with Draft/Chicago, Rivet’s parent company.

Lor Gold, also from Draft who formed Rivet with Furth last January, remains as Rivet’s CCO and new position of global managing director.

The 2005 Ad Woman of the Year, and possessor of an arms-length worth of awards, Furth previously was Draft/Chicago president/CEO. She joined Draft in ?81 as assistant account exec and ascended through the ranks to become president/COO in ’02.
