Executive director Donius to leave IFP in August; board now accepting resumes for her position

Elizabeth Donius: Heading back East

The IFP is in search mode for a new executive director to succeed popular, energetic Elizabeth Donius who leaves Chicago August 15 to move to Connecticut.

The IFP board is accepting resumes for from candidates with both film and non-profit organization experience to fill the position, which Donius has held for the past four years.

Donius says she is proud of accomplishments during “the period of growth” she helmed.

They include a 100% boost in income, from $100,000 in 2004 to $200,000 in 2007, the acquisition of the Chicago Underground Film Festival, many programs and screenings, and the initiation of the now annual and profitable gala.

“I feel I really solidified our efforts here with the community and helped build a foundation for IFP that is poised for still greater growth,” she states.

Donius’ husband, Kenneth McGill, a PhD in anthropology from the University of Chicago, has accepted a teaching position at the Southern Connecticut State University, which will bring the couple back to their home state. They have a daughter, Alice, 18 months.

Once settled in New Haven, Donius will spend time with their 18-month old daughter Alice, before getting back into some area of independent film production. She says she will pick up her “World’s Largest” doc and complete it, after five years in the works.

Resumes may be sent to Search Committee, Independent Feature Project, 1104 S. Wabash, Room, 403, Chicago, 60605. —Jerry Sullivan
